  • onion, chopped

  • tomato puree
  • Kashmiri chili powder
  • garam masala

Soak urad dal and rajma 8 hours. Pressure-cook with water until completely tender.

In butter and ghee cook onion until light golden. Add ginger-garlic paste, then tomato puree, chili powder, and salt; cook until thick.

Add the lentils and 300-400 ml cooking liquid. Simmer uncovered on very low heat 45-60 minutes, stirring often.
